Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts
It is with the greatest of pleasure that I announce the appointment of Jerry Doiron as the
Director of the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts (IBCPA) at Queen’s University,
effective June 17, 2013. Jerry is currently the Planning Director at the Shaw Festival in Niagara-
on-the-Lake. In his new role, Jerry will manage and operate the IBCPA, including the concert
hall, the studio theater, the film screening room, the arts media lab, and rehearsal and teaching
spaces, offices and event areas. Jerry will work to ensure the IBCPA serves both the University
and the community through creative and imaginative collaborations, and through programming
and marketing of a concert series, special engagements and events, and regional outreach.
A life-long arts administrator, Jerry Doiron joined The Shaw Festival in 1996, prior to which
he held several positions in Toronto, including General Manager of Necessary Angel Theatre
Company, Associate Producer of the Canada Dance Festival, and Producer of Theatre Passe
Muraille. He has had professional associations with Theatre Columbus, the Dance Umbrella
of Ontario and Buddies in Bad Times Theatre. Jerry is recognized as a senior administrator
in Canadian theatre and has acted as advisor to the Canada Council, Ontario Arts Council,
Theatre Ontario, Cultural Affairs (Metropolitan Toronto), Creative Trust and the George C
Metcalf Foundation amongst others. He has also held several key volunteer posts including
President of both the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT) and the Toronto
Theatre Alliance (TTA). Jerry is a graduate of Ryerson University in Toronto.
Please join me in offering a warm welcome to Jerry Doiron.
