The Organ Historical Society (founded 1956) seeks a Chief Executive Officer to assume office July 1, 2018. Under the CEO’s innovative leadership, OHS, the premier national organization dedicated to the pipe organ, aspires to bring transformational change to the pipe organ community, through new programs, events, and educational offerings, all centered at its new home at Stoneleigh Estate, Villanova, Pennsylvania.

This new headquarters offers exciting opportunities for building new programs and hosting events, giving the new CEO the potential to bring transformational change to the pipe organ community – and the music community more broadly – in the Philadelphia area, the US, and the world.

 

Organ Historical Society:  Position Summary

The Organ Historical Society is a national organization dedicated to the pipe organ in America.  The well established reputation of the OHS lays the foundation for this, and recent initiatives, including the headquarters, set the stage for a vibrant future under the leadership of an innovative CEO.

The Chief Executive Officer is responsible to the OHS Board for the following broad categories: operational management, fund-raising, membership, convention planning, organizational governance, program management, and communications.  A complete job description is on the OHS and GVA websites.

 

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in managing a not for profit organization, preferably in the performing arts; a degree in music or arts administration; and a track record in successful financial management and reportage, fund-raising, and the planning of public programs such as concerts and master classes.  Excellent communication skills, computer savvy, and the ability to work well with many stakeholders: staff, board, volunteers, donors, and the public.  A passion for the pipe organ and knowledge of the organ world would certainly be assets.
