GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Greenville Symphony Association (GSA) announces the appointment of its new Executive Director, Julianne M. Fish.  Ms. Fish will replace Andrew (Andy) J. White Jr., the current Interim Executive Director, who has been in place since March 2016, following the death of the former Executive Director, Sherwood Mobley.
“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Julianne Fish as the Executive Director of the Greenville Symphony Association,” said GSA Board President, Thomas F. Strange.  “Julie brings an extensive portfolio of experience, having worked in the performing arts industry, including several positions with leading, regional orchestras throughout the country.  The Search Committee was confident that Julie’s wealth of knowledge and skillset will serve her well in her role as Executive Director of the Greenville Symphony Orchestra.”
“The unique combination of Ms. Fish’s large and very impressive experience of successful work in high administrative positions with large Symphony Orchestras, and her solid musical background ensure a seamless continuation of the best traditions of the GSO and open new horizons for the great development and professional growth of our Orchestra,” said GSO Music Director and Conductor, Maestro Edvard Tchivzhel.  “I am looking forward to very exciting and productive work with Julianne.”
A French horn performance major at The Ohio State University and The Cleveland Institute of Music, Ms. Fish also served as a Bandsman in the United States Air Force, leading four separate touring ensembles, before beginning her full-time employment in the performing arts.  Her comprehensive vita includes serving as Vice President/General Manager of the Milwaukee Symphony, and as Vice President/Chief Operating Officer of the San Antonio Symphony, as well as Vice President/General Manager of the Atlanta Symphony.  Ms. Fish most recently served as Vice President/Chief Operating Officer of the Columbus Symphony in Columbus, Ohio.
“I am thrilled to become part of the GSO family, and fully immerse myself in Greenville’s thriving arts community in this capacity,” says Ms. Fish.  “I look forward to promoting the mission of South Carolina’s premiere, professional orchestra, and eagerly anticipate leading and growing the symphony in its seventieth concert season and beyond.”
Ms. Fish will officially commence her responsibilities as the Executive Director of the Greenville Symphony Association on Monday, July 17, 2017.  For more information, please contact GSA Marketing Director, Todd Weir, at (864) 232-0344 extension 18.
